    Course Overview

This course explores the deeper principles behind embedding safety, health and wellbeing in educational settings, moving beyond practical implementation into the theory, evidence and pedagogy that underpin effective safety education. It has been developed in line with recognised professional standards, is NEBOSH-verified and CPD-accredited, and is grounded in research and informed by leading expertise in early years and primary education.

Designed for educators, leaders and practitioners, this course provides a comprehensive understanding of how safety culture is formed in childhood and how it can be intentionally developed through education. While the course is not curriculum training, it has been designed to complement the EYFS Statutory Framework and National Curriculum, demonstrating how safety, health and wellbeing can be embedded through everyday educational practice.

The course also introduces the evidence base that informs The Safety Superhero Method® and wider Shaping Safer Futures® approach.

    How it works

The course is structured into five focused modules that progressively build understanding from theory through to application. Each module combines professional insight with practical interpretation, helping you understand not just what to do, but why it works and how it influences behaviour, decision-making and culture over time. It is designed to support reflective practice, professional dialogue and whole-setting thinking around safety, health and wellbeing.

    What you'll explore:

    • How safety behaviours, attitudes and habits are formed during childhood
    • The relationship between language, culture and behaviour
    • How children develop risk awareness, decision-making and responsibility over time
    • How safety can be embedded through teaching approaches, routines and curriculum design
    • How The Safety Superhero Method® translates theory into structured practice
    • How to evaluate and adapt your own practice to support long-term impact
